Billy Costa and Jenny Johnson know their food and have met some of Boston’s top cuisine masters, so it takes a lot to get them excited.

However, the duo sat down with Gordon Hamersley, a Boston restaurant legend, and looked like two children opening presents on Christmas morning.

A man of many talents, Hamersley recently shut down his world-renowned restaurant but writes a biweekly column for the Boston Globe and is an adviser for the charitable organization Share Our Strength.
