The owner of Foxboro Sports Tavern, Thom Popoli, is a Massachusetts native and wanted New England fans to have a “home base” for the Boston Red Sox spring training games in Fort Myers. He opened Foxboro in 2004, and as luck would have it, the New England Patriots won the Super Bowl and Red Sox won the World Series, starting a streak of New England wins.
